About Activation of Staffs' Sophia-mail

ICT office is now preparing for the data transport of the staffs' e-mail from cl.sophia.ac.jp to sophia.ac.jp.

From today as of 22nd April, all members' E-mail addresses will be visible on Office365 Address Book, however, many of the staffs principally first start using Sophia-mail from 1st July(*).
That means staffs may not read your e-mail until the date if you send an e-mail to Sophia-mail, so please note that to send e-mail to cl.sophia.ac.jp till then.

*Even though some department such as ICT Office, junior college division have already started using Sophia-mail.

<Important>Sophia ICT account (Media Center account) for researchers in AY2019

We are accepting an application from collaborative researchers/fellows/staff members who are going to use Sophia ICT account (former Media Center account) in AY2019 continuously.
Please make an application as follows:

*PD and Researcher honorary member don't need to apply, but if you have become a collaborative researcher, fellow or Staff member,  please submit 'Application for use of computer system'.

(1) Log in to Sophia Mail
  http://outlook.office365.com/owa/sophiamail.sophia.ac.jp

(2) After log-in, access the web site below and answer the questionnaire.

sophiawifi2019 Now Available

Additional Information on 2nd April 2019

There are not a few cases reported that sometimes the reboot of the device is must to complete sophiawifi2019 setting.
So, please try a reboot of your device when you cannot finish sophiawifi2019 setting.

*We are considering this may be caused by the devices, not the campus Wi-Fi, as these days we usually do not shutdown devices but just sleep.

The renewed Wi-Fi sophiawifi2019 is now available.

Please refer to the manuals here to use sophiawifi2019. (Manual > 3_Wireless LAN Service)
Unfortunately, not all the manuals are available yet but will be published soon.

・Settings is a little bit complicated but if you are once online, you do not need authentication anymore. (The account will be deactivated as graduation, retirement, and leave of the university )

[Sophia ICT-Account (Sophia Media Center Account)]
The Sophia ICT account is required for using CALL system or Moodle.
Especially part-time teachers who are assigned in this year would not
have the account.
Please make to sure apply the account beforehand by e-mail or FAX
because ICT-Office cannot issue the account within a day.

Computer System.pdf) form ICT-Office website.

If you cannot attend the workshop, staff in charge of these systems will
answer your question at the Editing Room (Bldg. #2 B2F).

*Beginning of the semester, ICT Office will be very busy and we cannot

Please participate in workshop or refer to a manual and set it by yourself.

About account for reseachers/fellow for AY2019

Regarding Sophia ICT account (former Media Center account) for joint researchers, fellow or staff who will be continuously enrolled, ICT office will accept application to keep their account in April. They can use their account in April without application.
ICT office will inform more details in April.

■Users who need to apply:
- Joint Researcher
- Fellow, Staff

■Users who don't need to appy:
- PD
- PJPD
- Visiting Resercher
- RA
- PJRA
*If you will be a joint researcher or fellow/staff in AY2019, you need to apply.


If you are a retiring teacher, PD or visiting researcher and will be a joint researcher, fellow or staff etc., please contact ICT Office in this March.

From Feb.28th, the "Sender (From)" on Sophia Mail will be changed

As we informed on Feburuary 12nd,
from February 28th, 2019 (Thu.), the "Sender (From)" which is displayed on the recipients' mailbox will be changed as below:
  • For Teachers, Faculty members, Graduates, Retired Teachers:
    Users can change their sender name.
  • Students cannot change their sender name.
