Renewal/Deletion of Computer System Account

Accounts on computer system for graduating students and retiring faculty members will be deleted on the date below:

  • Graduating students  : March 27 (Wed) 5:00pm
  • Students proceeding to master/doctor program / changing department
     : March 29 (Fri.) 1:00pm
  • Retiring teachers / researchers : April 3 (Wed.) 9:00am

Read the following carefully and make sure what you have to do regarding the renewal/deletion of your account.

※After your account is deleted:

  • You are not able to use any computers in the PC/CALL rooms.
  • Pweb/lctweb service become unavailable; You cannot create nor browse your website.
  • You are not able to use Moodle, Sophia Wifi, VPN, Wired LAN which requires authentication.
  • Files saved in My Folder (O drive) are deleted.
  • Files saved in home directory (including UNIX files) are deleted.
  • [SOME USERS] E-mail service becomes unavailable; you cannot send/receive messages. Mail box is deleted.
  • [Those who will retire] E-mail address will be changed. Present E-mail address becomes unavailable. Present mail box is deleted.

  • If you are NOT graduating  and are NOT changing department (= Student ID will not be changed), the account will be prolonged automatically. 
  • If you are studying another year at Sophia, the account will be prolonged automatically.

  • Your account will be deleted on March 27, 2019  (Wed.) at 5:00pm
  • You can keep using your mail address “~@eagle.sophia.ac.jp” after your graduation.
  • But, you will not be able to use One Drive anymore, and the data will be deleted.

  • You will not be able to use free Office neither. Please refer to here for the details.
  • Junior College Division Students will become able to change your e-mail address.

Non-regular students

  • You can continue to use your e-mail address and the My Folder (O drive); Note that your user ID will be changed to your new Student ID.
  • Due to preparation for new accounts, after March 29 (Fri.), you cannot use all services privieded by ICT office including e-mail without your new user ID.
    (Your e-mail address is active, you cannot just login.)
  • You will be handed them as you receive new student ID card in April.
  • If you need to check your Sophia Mail during the period above, please set transfer settings to your other e-mail address in advance. (You can not send e-mails from Sophia Mail address though.)

  • If you are a full-time faculty member, your account is active until retirement.
  • If you are a researcher, you need to confirm your will of continuation. (ICT Office will contact you in April.)

  • Your mail address “~@sophia.ac.jp” which you are using during you work for Sophia University will be expired when you retire.
    Mail box also will be deleted.
  • Please use your new mail address “~@eagle.sophia.ac.jp” after your retirement. For more details, please refer to the document “Distribution of the Sophia e-mail address (@ eagle.sophia.ac.jp)” given by HR Office.
  • If you are retiring and will be visiting fellow or registered researchers etc., please submit the Application For use of Computer System Form.

  • Even if you are having lectures during the academic year 2019, you cannot use services provided by ICT Office until your enrollment is confirmed by HR Office.
  • If you having classes in 2019 and already have ICT Office account, you don’t need to apply again.
  • If you are retiring and will be visiting fellow or registered researchers etc., please submit the Application For use of Computer System Form.
