Request for Action Regarding the End of Support for Windows 10

Microsoft has announced that support for Windows 10 will end on October 14, 2025.
Please review the following information:

1. End of Support for Windows 10
Microsoft will officially end support for Windows 10 on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. After this date, security updates will no longer be provided, increasing the risk of virus infections and data breaches. Therefore, PCs running Windows 10 must not be connected to the university network (e.g., sophiawifi2019, VPN, etc.) after support ends.
A simple way to distinguish between Windows 10 and Windows 11 is by checking the position of the Start button:
If the Start button appears on the bottom left, you’re likely using Windows 10.
If it’s centered at the bottom of the screen, you’re likely using Windows 11.

2.Important Notes When Setting Up a Windows 11 PC
When setting up a newly purchased PC with Windows 11, you will be prompted to enter a Microsoft account. Do not use the Microsoft account provided by the university during this setup.

Faculty/Staff: Faculty ID@sophiamail.sophia.ac.jp, example@sophia.ac.jp

Using a university account may result in being unable to sign in to Windows OS after graduation or resignation, making recovery extremely difficult. Please use a personal Microsoft account (e.g., ~@outlook.jp) during setup. Please note that the upgrade process for OS and Office products may vary depending on the device. The Information Systems Office is unable to provide support for individual issues or inquiries related to upgrades.
