Renewal/Deletion of Computer System Account

Accounts on computer system for graduating students and retiring faculty members will be deleted at the end of autumn semester (September 19). 
Read the following carefully and make sure what you have to do regarding the renewal/deletion of your account.

【Students NOT graduating in September, 2017】

  • If you are NOT graduating  and are NOT changing department (= Student ID will not be changed), the account will be prolonged automatically. 
  • If you are studying another year at Sophia, the account will be prolonged automatically. 


【Graduating students in September, 2017】

[Regular students]:

Undergraduate (A) / Graduate student (B,C) / Law School student (E) / Course of Midwifery student (W)  /
School of Social Welfare Students (S) / Junior College Division Students (T)

  • Your account will be deleted on Thursday, September 19 2017 at 12 p.m. 
  • Do not forget to backup your data before being deleted.
  • You can keep using your mail address "~@eagle.sophia.ac.jp" after your graduation.
  • But, you will not be able to use One Drive anymore, and the data will be deleted.
  • You will not be able to use free Office neither. Please refer to here for the details.
  • Junior College Division Students will become able to change your e-mail address.


[Non-regular students]

【Students proceeding to master/doctor program / changing department in September, 2017】

※Log-in ID will be changed.
  • You can continue to use your e-mail address and the My Folder (O drive); Note that your user ID will be changed to your new Student ID.
  • Due to preparation for new accounts, you cannot use all university computers and e-mail services without your new user ID.
    (Your e-mail address is active, you cannot just login.)
  • You will be handed them as you receive new student ID card. 
  • If you need to check your Sophia Mail during the period above, please set transfer settings to your other e-mail address in advance. (You can not send e-mails from Sophia Mail address though.)

【Students changing status to Full-time faculty member / Visiting Fellow / Registered Researcher etc. in September, 2017】

  • Please submit the Application For use of Computer System Form.

  • If you are a full-time faculty member, your account is active until retirement.
  • If you are a researcher, you need to confirm your will of continuation.(Media Center will contact you by March.)


【Teachers/Researchers retiring in September, 2017】

[Full-time / Special Appointment / Professional / Transferred / Special Contract Teachers]

※A new mail address "~@eagle.sophia.ac.jp" will be provided after your retirement.

  • Do not forget to backup your data before being deleted.
  • Your mail address "~@sophia.ac.jp" which you are using during you work for Sophia University will be expired when you retire.
    Mail box also will be deleted.
  • Please use your new mail address "~@eagle.sophia.ac.jp" after your retirement. For more details, please refer to the document "Distribution of the Sophia e-mail address (@ eagle.sophia.ac.jp)" given by HR Office.
  • If you are retiring and will be visiting fellow or registered researcher etc., please submit the Application For use of Computer System Form.


[Honorary member teachers / Honorary member teachers engaged from Foreign Countries]

  • If you are not having lectures during the academic year 2017, you cannot use services provided by Media Center.
  • Even if you are having lectures during the academic year 2017, you cannot use services provided by Media Center until your enrollment is confirmed by HR Office.
  • If you having classes in 2017 and already have Media Center account, you don't need to apply again.
  • If you are retiring and will be student or visiting fellow / registered researchers etc., please submit the Application For use of Computer System Form..


[Emeritus professors]
