Deletion or ID change of Sophia ICT Account at the end of spring semester

Sophia ICT Accounts for graduating students and retiring faculty members will be deleted on the date below:

  • Graduating students : September 20th, 2023 (Wed.) 17:00
  • Students proceeding to master/doctorial program or changing department
    September 20th, 2023 (Wed.) 9:00
  • Retiring teachers / researchers : October 1st (Sun.) 9:00

Read the following information carefully and make sure what you have to do regarding the renewal/deletion of your account.

*After your account is deleted…

  • Moodle, SophiaWifi2019, eduroam, VPN, Wired LAN which requires authentication and OPAC online becomes unavailable.
  • You will not be able to use any PCs in the PC rooms.
  • Files saved in My Folder (O drive) will be deleted.
  • Files saved in home directory (including UNIX files) will be deleted.
  • Files saved in OneDrive will be deleted.
  • Free Office (Word/Excel etc.) becomes unavailable.
  • Pweb/lctweb service becomes unavailable. You cannot create nor browse your website.
  • Zoom account which is registered with Sophia Mail address will not be deleted, but the user type will be changed to Basic (Meeting timeout is 40 minutes).
  • [Non-degree Students, Part-time teachers, Researchers].
    Sophia Mail service becomes unavailable; you will not be able to send/receive messages. Mail box is deleted.
  • [Retiring Full-time teachers / Staff members]
    Sophia Mail address will be changed. Current Sophia Mail address (@sophia.ac.jp) becomes unavailable.

  • You can keep using your Sophia Mail address after your graduation.
  • You will not be able to use One Drive anymore, and the data in One Drive will be deleted.
  • You will not be able to use free Office neither. Refer to here for more details.
  • Zoom license will be deleted and meeting timeout will be 40 minutes.
  • Junior College Division Students will become able to change your e-mail address.

Non-degree students

  • You can continue to use your e-mail address and the My Folder (O drive). Note that your user ID will be changed to your new Student ID.
  • The account with the new student number will be available from September 20th (Wed.) 17:00. Please use the old student number until September 20th (Wed.) 9:00. Please note that the services provided by the ICT Office, including Sophia Mail, will not be available from 9:00 to 17:00.
  • You will be handed your new account notice as you receive new student ID card.
  • Your e-mail address is active during the period above, you cannot just login.
  • If you need to check your Sophia Mail during the period above, please set transfer settings to your other e-mail address in advance. (You can not send e-mails from Sophia Mail address though.)

  • Your mail address “~@sophia.ac.jp” which you are using during you work for Sophia University will be expired and mail data will be deleted when you retire.
  • Please use your new mail address “~@eagle.sophia.ac.jp” after your retirement. For more details, please refer to the document “Distribution of the Sophia e-mail address (@eagle.sophia.ac.jp)” given by HR Office.
  • If you are retiring but will be visiting fellow or registered researchers etc., please submit the “Sophia ICT Account Application” Form.
